RAD Work Positioning Device

July 8th 2015

We're pleased to announce the launch of the the RAD, a new Rope Adjustment/Work Positioning Device. The RAD is a sister product to the AB Descender. Working in partnership with SAR Products in the UK, we have developed the RAD Rope Adjustment Device for use on 10.5-12.7mm SAR Rope.

The RAD is an equivalent Work Positioning Device to, for example, the Petzl Grillon, but the RAD can also be used as a Descender. Simple and smooth to operate, the RAD allows easy adjustment, with the option of an even greater degree of adjustment control, using the flip-out handle.

The RAD is CE Approved to EN358 and EN12841, as well as being ANSI Compliant to z359.3/2007. The RAD weighs in at 306g (10oz) and has a rated WLL of 200kg (529lb). The super robust RAD features an all metal construction- no plastic parts!

Outside of the EU, we can also offer the RAD with Bluewater Armortech Rope. Aromortech is a DOUBLE SHEATH rope and the 100% Technora Aramid outer sheath has superior cut resistance, compared with synthetic fibers. This exceptionally heat resistant rope has a decomposition temperature of 501 Degree Celsius (934 Degrees Fahrenheit)!

Even before the launch of the RAD, we have had Yates Gear (USA) bite our hands off for the device! Yates are a specialist provider of high-spec solutions for the work at height and rescue industry. Yates have introduced the RAD in to their range, teamed with Armortech Rope. The first batches of RADs went to the crews at Bonneville Power Administration and Pacific Gas & Electricity in the USA.

"The RAD is so much stronger than the Grillon at failure. The in-field tests with the 12mm Dry Armortech lanyards have been exceptional. Using the Armortech rope in them really increases the strength and makes them highly abrasion resistant on Steel towers. As a bonus, they pass the Arc Flash testing requirements too. All the in-field testing we have done with guys on the electric utility transmission crews LOVE the device".
