New aluminium harness dee-rings

Following feedback from a number of shows and competitions a couple of significant modifications were made to the RP056 Stainless Steel Screwlock Rigging pulley:

The locking screw has been changed to do away with the welded bar which has been replaced with a knurled-head screw which is easier to use. The knurled head screw now has a hole in it so that a screwdriver or similar can be put through it to allow more leverage in opening or locking the pulley. This feature will be available on both the steel and stainless steel versions.

To reduce weight and make it look cool and sexy we have put ‘flame cut-outs’ into the side plates – these do not affect the strength (the ultimate breaking strength is still well in excess of 100kN/22,000lbs) but they do help to reduce the weight down to 1.43kg/3.15lbs. This feature will only be available on the polished stainless steel version.

This new version RP056 is in production now.

Following even more feedback from various shows and competitions a couple of very significant modifications have been made to the best selling KH204 aluminium HMS karabiner.

By changing the material used and the manufacturing methodology we now have a forged karabiner that can achieve an MBS of 30kN/6600lbs which we believe is now the best strength to weight HMS karabiner anywhere in the world.

As part of a general strategy to upgrade all our karabiner markings you can see that the new markings are fully in line with the latest CE requirements. Of course individual serial numbers can be added on request.

All black military version

Particularly relevant to the Arborist industry is the fact that when used with a fixed cheek micro-pulley, the new sections of the material do not now allow the pulley (and therefore the prussic knot) to slide across the head of the karabiner and down the spine. Feedback from climbers confirmed that this was an annoying problem relating to all HMS karabiners. Problem solved!

The new material gives a 10% weight reduction compared to the current version.

Please also note that this KH204 is now in production in all its variants including 3-way supersafe and 4-way Quadlock. We are also now updating the hugely popular KH214 mini-HMS in the same way and this will be available in production by December.
